A range of Senegal films was analysed to understand Dakar’s unique identity and culture. Lifestyle, belief, hope and escapism were the 4 ideas drawn from the films. From these, the significance of their culture is evident. Hence, introducing a hybrid function of a ritual space into the temporary cinema allows a exploration to propose a new typology of cinematic space. The cinema will capitalise on the unique characteristic of Dakar, being positive for changes and yet still hold on to their culture and beliefs.
