Pirogue, otherwise known as boats, are used for traditional fishing – an industry still important in Dakar. The long and colourful boats are often hand painted by the local artists. The pattern are mysterious and intricate, representing the colourful mosaic life of Dakar. However, many of the boats were old, damaged by the sea water and heat from the sun, or abandoned. Our scheme attempts to reincarnate something that has a rich culture and life to facilitate the cinema.
